2007 Merryfields Pinot Gris

Merryfield Pinot Gris has a slightly copper-pink tinge to the straw colour of the wine. It has ripe, sweet pear aromas, some baked pastry (almonds?) and a faint florally, perfume smell. In the mouth, it has a creamy texture. It tastes like pear too (other comments have been “apple”, “fig” or “apricot”). It is weighty, so full bodied and complex. It has long, dry, spicy finish, the spicy finish is of ground ginger or five spice in baking rather than cooking.

Pairs well with seafood, pork and chicken, if served without acidic embellishments
