2007 Ascension The Benediction Reserve Cabernet Franc
A youthful red berry red colour, this wine smells of blackcurrents, violets, vanilla and vanillin from the oak. It is a medium-bodied wine with flavours of blackberry with a hint of chocolate or cocoa. It is a smooth, juicy wine with an earthy/mineral backbone (typical of the Matakana red wines). It has long, dry finish ending with a touch of pepper or peppery clove. The tannins are fine.
