Winery: Gillmans
Gillman 2004 Cabernet Franc/Merlot/Malbec
This wine is densly coloured and the red is a dark, black red [colour]. The aromas are of ripe plums and cedary (woody), that will become even more prominant with time. On the palate there is more ripe, dark, juicy plum, spice (perhaps liquorice) and mocha (chocolaty coffee) [flavour], there is also an earthy minerality to the finish. In mouth this wine feels dense and rich and the tannins are smooth and dry [mouthfeel]. The finish is long and elegant.
This is a full-coloured, full flavoured, full-bodied wine that will be greatly enhanced by food. I suggest a rich tomato based stew with garlic butter beans and creamy mashed potatoes; beef or lamb, oxtail or lamb shanks.
